Is Sun Protection Enough to Prevent Skin Damage?

With the spring season marching on, the sun is getting harsher and the need to protect your skin stronger. This, combined with pollution, stress and unhealthy habits, creates a harmful environment for your skin. And while, in our last blog post (which you can find here), we talked about the ways in which you could cleanse your body and skin, in this one we are focused on the ways in which you can protect it.

The problem with air pollution is that it clogs up your pores, causing inflammation and dehydration to your skin which can, in turn, cause premature aging due to a loss in the skin’s elasticity and firmness. And while using sun protection does prevent these issues from occurring, they do have other ways of appearing - as we’ve mentioned above. So when you’re shopping for skin care, make sure to look out for products that have these antioxidants in order to protect your skin and prevent the apparition of these issues:

  • Vitamin A (or Retinol) - which repairs the cellular structure of the skin and improves aging spots.

  • Vitamin C - which removes all the harmful excess produced on your skin due to ultraviolet radiation.

  • Vitamin E - which can reduce photo-damage from the sun. It is perfect to pair with Vitamin C.

You can never be too careful, which is why we also suggest using anti-pollution products at the end of your skincare routine as well as your daily dose of sun protection, which will act as shields and give your skin an extra layer of protection from the damages of the environment.

Of course, maintaining a healthy lifestyle is also primordial for your body to produce natural antioxidants in order to protect your skin from the pollution in the air. Reducing or cutting out excessive consumption of fast foods, alcohol, and cigarettes will also prevent the clogging up of your pores and the inflammation of your skin.

We hope these tips were helpful and that you will take them into consideration to have the freshest, smoothest skin ahead of the summer season! You can check out our website here for any antioxidant and anti-pollution product you might need!
